How many players?
Between 2 to 6 players, preferable 4.
What level do the characters start?
Level 5, depending on the adventure there might be level progression throughout the weekend.
How do we determine character ability scores?
In the interest of fairness we use the point buying system as described here.
What materials can I use to build my character?
Anything from a core or supplementary rulebook is welcome (Players Handbook 2014/2024, Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, Volo’s Guide to Monster).
Can I use Unearthed arcana or Homebrew?
I am not keen on these sources, but feel free to ask about a specific feature.
Can I use Feats and Multiclassing?
Yes, be creative!
What Equipment Can I have?
- Each player gets a purse of 1,200gp, this is instead of starting equipment or gold.
- You can buy standard equipment priced in the Players Handbook. Ontop of this common magical items cost 100gp, uncommon items cost 400gp and consumable magic items, except spell scrolls, costs half.
- If purchasing magic items that will be used as armour, the cost of armour is added ontop of the magic item cost (i.e. Mithral Half Plate armour would cost 1,150gp).
- You should also purchase any spell components that have a gold value (i.e. revivify diamonds).
Can I DM?
Yes, as long as it’s your friends group, same costs apply, please contact us to discuss.
Can I add my own elements into the adventure?
Yes, if you are playing as a group and want a few specific scenario’s I’m sure I can work them in.
What happens if my character dies?
Should the worst happen and your character dies, we shall resolve the encounter (hopefully with no further team deaths) and then take a break to discuss options. What will probably happen is we use fast character to generate you a new character. That being said you are welcome to become a ghost and posses NPC’s. If you go this option be prepared for on the fly rule making.
Do you run different game systems like D&D3.5 or Pathfinder?
I am most familiar with D&D 5e, but have experienced others, for an additional cost I can run a different system, though learning/refreshing a less familiar system would detract from the adventure.
Meals
Can we change food options?
Yes as long as it’s discussed in advanced, changes to food will most likely effect prices.
Can I cook my own meals?
Unfortunately not, due to very limited kitchen equipment and full time farm use we’d prefer people did not make their own meals, it can be very disruptive to our cooking if we are sharing pots/pans/stove tops. This being said, if you would like to bring your own Braai/tools/equipment then you are welcome to.
Camping
Can I bring other people who aren’t playing?
Yes but there will still need to pay meal costs if eating, please contact us to discuss.
Is alcohol allowed?
As long as its not excessive and doesn’t affect others there is no problem, if it does become a problem then we will stop playing.
